The Psychologically Safe Leader Method is a live, virtual training program that equips leaders with the tools, strategies, and confidence to create safer, more productive workplaces.

Through interactive sessions and practical tools, participants develop the leadership capabilities needed to reduce team stress, improve communication, and support performance, without overstepping their role.

About the Virtual Program

Live, Facilitated Learning — Join from anywhere

Each course is delivered live online by experienced facilitators, offering real-time discussion, group activities, and direct application of key concepts.

Our facilitators provide effective language, sharing what to say, how to say it, and when to say it with participants. 

This virtual format increases the ability for leaders across Canada to join and ensures a dynamic, engaging learning experience without the need to travel. 

All that's required is a device and a stable internet connection.

  • Practical Tools & Conversation Frameworks
    Leaders learn how to approach sensitive topics, coach team members effectively, and foster psychological safety in day-to-day interactions.

  • Live Instruction & Peer Learning
    Courses are facilitated in real time and include opportunities to learn from peers, reflect on personal leadership styles, and practice new approaches in a supportive environment.

  • Certification Pathway
    Participants who complete a minimum of five courses, pass short knowledge checks, and apply strategies in their workplace are eligible to become certified in the Psychologically Safe Leader Method.

Foundations for Psychologically Safe Leadership

This course covers how leadership behaviours impact trust, communication, and performance. Participants will explore a practical framework to navigate challenging conversations, support employee well-being, and build a foundation for high-performing, resilient teams.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Apply communication approaches that build trust and psychological safety across diverse teams.

  • Use a structured framework to address performance concerns while encouraging employee ownership and growth.

  • Develop a tailored support plan to help team members manage stress, maintain well-being, and navigate work-related challenges.

Recognizing and Responding to Mental Health issues

This course helps leaders recognize early signs of employee distress and respond with empathy, clarity, and confidence. Participants will learn how to approach sensitive conversations and guide employees toward appropriate support without overstepping their role.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the four domains of emotional intelligence and apply them when supporting employee well-being.

  • Initiate supportive conversations with employees who may be struggling, using clear and respectful language.

  • Recommend appropriate resources in a way that reduces stigma and reinforces psychological safety.

Supporting Employees at Work

This course prepares leaders to support employees through performance challenges, accommodations, and return-to-work scenarios with clarity and compassion. Participants will explore practical frameworks to balance organizational needs with employee success and well-being.

 

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Use a structured approach to task management and feedback that promotes accountability and clarity.

  • Explain the concepts of reasonable accommodation and undue hardship in the context of employee support.

  • Develop an accommodation plan that aligns with the employee’s capabilities and job requirements.

Resolving Interpersonal Challenges 

This course equips leaders with the tools to address conflict and interpersonal tension in a way that strengthens team dynamics and psychological safety. Participants will explore practical strategies to prevent harmful behaviours and guide employees toward respectful, solutions-focused interactions.


By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Define expectations for psychologically safe interactions and apply strategies to prevent or address bullying.

  • Facilitate conversations that help employees move from conflict or avoidance to respectful and collaborative working relationships.

  • Support team members in building shared commitment to healthier communication and team norms.

Building Healthy Teams

This course helps leaders strengthen team dynamics by fostering a culture of respect, collaboration, and psychological safety. Participants will explore practical strategies and team-building activities that enhance engagement, reduce conflict, and support well-being across diverse work environments.

 

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Facilitate team meetings that are inclusive, focused, and psychologically safe.

  • Apply team-building activities that promote cohesion, reduce conflict, and improve workplace culture.

  • Use a structured activity calendar to develop social intelligence, improve team effectiveness, and support overall team health.

Assessing and Improving Psychological Health and Safety

This course supports leaders in identifying and addressing the factors that influence psychological health and safety at both the team and organizational level. Participants will learn how to assess current conditions, interpret results, and take evidence-based action to create meaningful improvements.

 

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify key psychosocial factors that influence psychological health and safety in the workplace.

  • Use assessment tools to gather, analyze, and interpret data related to team and organizational well-being.

  • Facilitate improvement planning conversations and implement targeted strategies to strengthen psychological safety.
